Second day warmup …
Day two of the write everyday challenge
A near normal Texas summer day pushes in through my studio window this morning. To have everything so lush and green this late into the summer is very unusual.
Amber cut the life out of the poison ivy bush along the wall and left it to wither yesterday. Got to figure out a way to grab on to it and drag it out to the brush pile. Then apply copious amounts of plant poison along the foundation to kill it at the roots. I probably will let my eyes heal a bit more before starting on that.
And nothing but insanity on the newsfeeds. Former Senator Barbara “Call me Senator, General” Boxer was mugged for her cellphone in one of the few trendy parts of Oakland. A woke gymnast fails to deliver at the Olympics in Tokyo. A cop car is torched in Louisville, Colorado, and the House of Representatives is theater and theatrics.
But here in my little piece of paradise on the vast pampas of Central Texas, things are a little saner. We had a very wet spring and early summer, and the place is lush with grass and shrubbery. It always amazes me when this place springs to life after a drought.
I may start driving around the neighborhood a little just to get my driving skills up. I haven’t driven in well over a year now. Maybe even two years at this point. Not that I have anywhere to go. But I do like the independence.
And so the sun rises. Time for a bite of breakfast.
Good morning!

GOOD MORNING MY DEAREST!! Glad to hear the eyes are getting better. I get to have a cataract removed from my right eye one day when it ‘ripens’ which just grosses me out. UGH.
Hugs from the Midwest!

🙂 Hugs back!
I didn’t know I was as blind as I was! Still not fond of people muking around my eyeballs, but overall, it was painless and routine …

It must be wonderful to have your sight back. I’m a serious baby when it comes to my eyes, can’t even put drops in.

I hope I never get cataracts. They’d have to knock me unconscious.

I’ve read all of that except the cop car part. The insanity continues…
Driving is like riding a bike…you don’t forget how. You might forget where you are going, tho…🤔🤨
I hope I don’t get cataracts. 😳 I can do contacts, drops and battle the occasional stye but, I’m not keen on someone else poking around in them. 😖

I was forgetting where I was going a long time before my eyes clouded up! 😛 The cop car was in a formerly quiet suburb of Denver that I remember for its horse paddocks and farm supply stores. I am starting to see that happen in the communities around me. I think it is a social pandemic …

When you have a society that is highly materialistic and addicted to instant gratification, you wind up with adult toddlers. With the destruction of the family unit, the destruction of real education and, some would say, destruction of faith, you get “wildlings.” I happened to catch another headline last night about people looting high end stores, with the companies’ blessings and, selling said loot on Amazon. Now, the brilliant companies, that coddled the thieves, are hollering at Amazon for allowing such sales. Amazon/Bezos doesn’t care. I found it all ironic and amusing. Bezos doesn’t have to worry about smash & grabs. He has no store fronts…only distribution centers where employees have to pee in trashcans. His model works better and unionizing efforts were crushed.
Ain’t things grand…and, getting grander as we speak.

Hmmmm how did I miss this post?? Oh last year was not a good year. I was probably still in shock over everything. This is a new year though and I think my mind is functioning a bit better! Good Morning Sir!
